Wordpress Blogs can be HACKED so make sure you are protected.
Filed Under (Blogging Tools) by Ian on 22-01-2008
“Over 338,000 results in Google for the term my blog was hacked!”
Unfortunately there are people out there in Cyberland who like to break into your ‘home’ on the Internet and do DAMAGE!
Now even though the people who create Wordpress do their best to make the program secure, each time they do an update there are people who take advantage of what is most commonly referred to as Zero Day Exploits.
Zero Day Exploits are exploits that come out the same day as a new version of software is released. WordPress has been a target of Zero Day exploits for a while. The reason being is that Word Press is one of the most popular pieces of software on the internet. If they can gain access to your blog all kinds of things can happen, they can upload files, deface or delete your blog entirely, or do something that you might not notice such as changing your Adsense and affiliate codes to theirs!
All is not lost and there is a solution to this hole in Wordpress.
I’ve found the easiest and most affordable program (only $10) to keep these nasty people out of your Wordpress Blog.
WordPress Secure (you will see a graphic of the box in the sidebars on the right).

This program only takes about 8 minutes in total to install, and that includes watching the easy to follow video which shows you exactly what you need to do to make your Wordpress Blog completely secure for ALL HACKERS.
If you have already purchased this package please leave your comments/feedback below so that others will know how good this program really is.

Did not think blogs could be hacked, but then on the web, just like the Old West – “if there is a will, there is a way”.
Thanks for bringing this information to us all so we can protect our businesses!

Some great advice about hacking. I would never had thought to worry about such things, but now I will. I’ll be checking out the softward you have recommended, so thank you for that.
And here’s a quick question for you?
Do you think that hacking stuff only applies to free blogs hosted on wordpress, or also for paid domain hosting blogs?
I’ll be protecting myself from here on in, that’s for sure. Thanks again.
Sincerely,

I have neither any money, nor secret info..

I actually use this software on my blog. The $10 is well worth the security and peace of mind. I don’t directly make money from my blog but the links I have on there are important to me. If they were changed, someone else is suddenly getting my visitors.
Great product. Highly recommended.

I used wordpress secure… some how a hacker got into my account — banned my IP where I could not log in — went in via ftp and removed it.
I do not know how they did it — but they did.

In a world of WordPress security updates, someone is offering a way of protecting your WordPress blogs in between updates. Afterall, you’re not constantly connected to the internet, which means you don’t know how quickly you’ll be able to install the needed security patches. Still, is WordPress Secure worth getting?

Strangely enough, even now we see blogs been hacked using exploits that have been in existence for a while. Thanks for sharing the plugin but I think we all need to remember – patch your blog installation often and patch it fast!

I’m a writer and I am still fence-sitting on whether to jump right into the blogsphere. To me, it will be interesting to see how communication laws as it applies to blogs unfold. I believe the evolution of the application of existing laws governing free speech and how it will impact content will help bloggers elevate to higher standards of conduct and understanding of the veracity of information as well as the protection of original content–I hope.
