What led me to Internet Marketing and Why.

What led me to Internet Marketing?

The desire to work from home and maintain an income that would allow me to break free from my J.O.B.!

Ever since I can remember, I’ve felt like I could achieve more than simply working for my income. Even my dear old Mother had to listen to my dreams of being rich one day. Not easy for her to grasp because she was used to the ’simple’ life, but I’ll get back to that a little later.

I’ve tried lot’s of different ‘get rich quick schemes’. Now I’m not saying they don’t work, but I just didn’t seem to have the patience, and I was also easily tempted with the next biggest thing that came along.

Which happened to be the Internet…. gee didn’t that open a can of worms!!!

“Why Internet Marketing?” I hear you ask.

Because once again I saw an opportunity to do something other than work at a J.O.B. An opportunity where your income was in not in direct proportion to your time. A way you could do something once but sell it many times, just like a book. A method to reach millions of people all over the World in an instant.

Surely if there was any way on the Planet to make money quickly and easily it would have to be the Internet!

So, like many others, I started trying lots of “things” to make my millions, but with very little success.

Maybe at this point I should introduce myself.

My my name is Ian Richardson and I’ve been increasing my income through the Internet Marketing of products and Blogs (like this one) since the late 90’s. Some may say, and this includes my Mum, I’m a slow learner, or possibly easily distracted like I mentioned earlier, thus the reason I’m not as well known as some of the other so called ‘gurus’ on the Internet.

I have had some successes to date, the biggest being HavAds, a project Carl Bradbrook and I put together one day while having a coffee. It was quite a challenge but luckily we had some great mentors who guided us along the way. We’ll probably write a book together one day so you can read about all the fun, I use that word loosely, we had a long the way :)

Recently Carl put found an old collection of books written by Charles Haanel. You may have heard of The Master Key System, or more recently the TV production called The Secret.

The books Carl uncovered are called The Psychology of Business Success and he has turned these books into MP3 files so you can listen to them whenever and where ever you like. I listen to my copy each day as part of my growth training. It helps me with my thought process and focus and has been responsible for a lot of my successes.

Some other successful packages I’ve launched include my free and brandable range of software tools called EzySoftware4U, these include EzyFileZipper, EzyBlogFinder, EzyHTMLEditor with more to come. I’ve also released EzyReferrals.com, The AdSpy Pro, Track and Profit, 101 Professional Business Images wit Transparent Backgrounds, Graphical Opt-In Template Pack, Mega Private Label Rights Special Offer, and TubeTraffik just to name a few. I also have a few Adsense sites, product blogs, and currently I’m working towards my first Membership site.

Now of course I wasn’t always in front of a computer screen. I was born in the year Australia introduced the $1, so it was a long time before anything like a PC was around.

I grew up in your typical working class family who had to struggle just to put food on the table, but for some reason I always felt I wanted to achieve a lot more with my life. I have always been a dreamer and still am to this day.

Straight out of Year 10 I started as an Apprentice Fitter/Machinist with BHP (now Blue Scope Steel) in Wollongong. You can see an arial shot of the main steel making factories below.

For your entertainment I found this funny video created by a local. Now although this is a parody, in some ways it is close to the truth ;)

The main reason for that decision was the fact they didn’t offer carpentry, which is what I thought I really wanted to do, so my second choice was Fitting because I was fairly good at metal work at High School. It’s funny the decisions you make when you are young and think you know everything.

Since then I have done everything from newspaper delivery at 1am in the morning, to owning my own business (printer cartridge recycling).

It was in my third year as an apprentice when I got my first computer, an IBM XT.

IBM XT

Basically it had less power than most mobile phones do these days. It didn’t even run Windows, just DOS programs. Geezzz I can still see me playing a text based form of Dungeons and Dragons, nothing like the PlayStation games of today!

Anyway, time passed, lots of things changed on computers, the biggest being the introduction of the Internet.

That was over 20 years ago now and for the last 7 years I’ve been doing my own form of a University Degree on Internet Marketing.

I call it a University Degree for one simple reason. I’ve spent thousands of hours and thousands of dollars working my butt off trying to figure out how all the other ‘bright sparks’ make their living through the Internet.

Can you relate to any of this?

Whether you’ re just starting out, or have been surfing the Net for sometime trying to find ‘The Answer’ like I have, you would have, or will experience similar things to me.

Which brings me to the reason for my blog.

Since I travelled with my parents in a caravan around parts of Australia, I have dreamt of owning a motor home and travelling the remainder of Australia to see what I missed. To do this I realised I needed to generate an income through a means that allowed me to travel while I did so. Back when I first thought this about the only option available at the time was to become a fruit picker, but this wouldn’t have generated enough to do it full time, and the work was quite back breaking at the best of times so could only be done while I was young and strong.

Then the Internet turned up and the path to my dream was lit.

I now spend my time working on different projects on the Internet in an effort to get things to a point where I can purchase my motor home and start on the road. Thankfully again to technological advances I will be able to put a satellite dish on the home in order for me to have an Internet connection on the road. This will allow me the greatest freedom with long periods of not having to go too close to built up areas and spend more time in the beautiful Australian Outback.

I started this blog in March 2006 in an effort to bring information of value to you in order to help you along the way to realising your dreams. I amy not always have the right answer, and you may sometimes disagree with what I have to say, which is what I like about us all being individuals. We can all succeed if we work together and help each other.

Many will promise to give you “The Golden Ticket” to a system which will make you a sizable income, but you must realise many are only trying to convince you to purchase something in order for them to be the one to make money. There are a lot of scammers out there so you better be careful. I’ve been burnt by a few a long the way, so I know what to look out for.

Enjoy your visit. If you like what you read I’d like to invite you to subscribe to my future posts by entering your details in the box at the top of this column on the right. You will receive an email as soon as I publish my post. Sometimes this can be handy, especially when I notify everyone of a 24 hours special. If you’re a bit more technically minded (unlike me) you might want to subscribe to the RSS feed. There’s a neat way you can do this in a GMAIL account, I’ll be doing a video on this soon.

Thanks for stopping by, I look forward to hearing from you sometime, and remember…….
