You can make money blogging, and learn something along the way!

Sorry, I haven’t written something here for a while, it’s because I’ve been really busy.
Busy building my offline business with my online knowledge.
I know I’ve told you this before, but if you want to try something a little different then I suggest you grab your copy of Easy Offline Cash, just like I did, read what Mark has to say, and put it into action. Ever since I’ve really put what Mark says into action, and I emphasise really because I procrastinated on too many things for too long.
Anyway, I digress a little.
I’ve built a few sites for businesses lately, each one interesting in their own way.
Which kinda makes what I do even more interesting.
Just the other day I suggested an idea to a client, which was real basic stuff when it comes to online marketing, but to them it equalled another revenue stream they hadn’t even considered.
Pretty cool huh?
I get a real buzz out of things like that, and the income is a lot better than what I have ever made through my efforts online.
Check this out for a good example.
I had a recent client who, by the end of our two hour meeting, paid me a deposit towards building a web site. That deposit basically equalled what I used to earn working a 38 hour week. Same money, and so far I had only done 2 hours of work.
You’ll have to excuse me if I don’t mention dollar amounts here, I have to keep details about my business confidential. I’m sure you understand.
Ok, so now I had a job ahead to build a website. Challenge here was to get it up in a couple of days. That’s from having no idea, to finished product live online.
There are two ways I could have done this.
- Do all the work myself and spend a lot of my own valuable time on one project.
- Contract it out to a trusted person so I can find more work.
Obviously I picked No.2.
Best thing about choosing number two is the fact I have a terrific bloke in the USA who builds sites for me and I don’t have to baby-sit him all the way. When you find someone like this it’s a real pleasure to work together. Funny thing is we are on different parts of the planet
The job ended up taking a little longer than planned, mainly because the client kept changing the content. That’s fine, we’ll do anything to make the client happy with the final product.
BUT…
You have to make sure you don’t overdo it or you will chew into your profits. It’s all about having a contract and making sure everyone agrees. That contract can even be a handshake. It’s how I do a lot of my business.
So, I ended up making more money than I use to in one month at my old J.O.B. and personallyI probably put a total of 8 hours work in myself. My hourly rate on that job was above $200.
Over $200 per Hour!
Do remember though, this is a one off job so it not like I’m getting that all the time. There have been times when I had no contracts so that money has to last, but I’m getting better at landing contracts to the dry spells will only get shorter.
Not bad for a home business I run from a desk in my sunroom.
You can do it too if you want, just grab a copy of Easy Offline Cash and follow the instructions.
I’m not saying it easy money. You have to work at it, but if you enjoy helping people like I do then it’s really not work
Due to the current Global Financial Crisis (GFC), there are A LOT of businesses out there who are trying to figure out how to retain their current customers and also attract new ones, and we have all the information they need to do it!
Talking about the GFC brings me back to the site I was talking about earlier. There were some interesting views on the possibility of an emerging Pacific Currency Unit (PCU).
It turns out a group of Masters of Business Administration (MBA) graduates from the University of Sydney and Stanford University had often talked about and formulated ideason how a PCU could be introduced, and quite possibly become a new standard instead of the US Dollar.
I quote,
Specifically ‘ TANC’ (where TANC stands for The AUST National Counsel’ {AUST stands for Australia’s United States and Territories}) has researched over the years the consonance and otherwise of the fiscal and monetary policies of our four home nations. As well research in relation to Purchasing Power Parity Theory of the four applicable currencies was undertaken from time to time. It has been concluded that the time is now approaching for the creation of a Pacific Currency Unit (PCU) embracing the convergence of the four dollar currencies of Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United States as a regional and perhaps reserve world currency.
Bit of a radical view some may say, but not so far out there that it’s not possible.
The article went on to say,
This foregoing view has been a pursuit of the research and value analysis conclusions of banking sector participants who are of the belief that the Australian dollar is clearly undervalued compared to the US dollar and certain other currencies. It is our view that both these dollars should be at parity. Such could perhaps be a precursor for the establishment of the PCU.
and..
To establish a model for the PCU one must observe the evolution of the European Currency Unit (ECU) and too, the current state of the AMIRO. The development of the ECU for example has provided the opportunity for a more efficient trading environment based on a single currency. Its success over the last fifteen to twenty years has confirmed that the creation and development of a regional currency can benefit significantly countries of similar political, economic and social structural dimensions.
Interesting stuff to say the least, and something to keep an eye on for sure. If you’d like to read more on the possible emergence of a Pacific Currency Unit click here.
So as you can see, building web sites for offline businesses can be quite interesting for many reasons.
- You deal with some interesting people and learn new things.
- You help businesses become more profitable in these hard financial times.
- You make good money on your own terms.
Hope you;ve found my ramblings helpful.
Time for me to get ready and meet with a client. We are going to have lunch together in a restaurant I have recommended (he’s paying). Now the reason I picked that restaurant is because I am going to approach them next week for business. I know the owner will be there today and could quite possibly hear some of what I have to say.
Do you think he will be curious to know more?
I can bet you he will because I have used this method to get business before, and very effectively.
Another little tip you can take away with you today.
Have a wonderful day, it’s bloody freezing here at the moment but without the reward of snow.
Catch you later,
Ian

Hi Ian!
I’ve been busy on my end too hence the absence of reply yet to your email.
Just read this post of yours and you’re right, blogging surely lets you learn something. I like the idea about PCU. The Euro is a success so there’s no reason for the PCU to not be made into reality.

Hey Ian,
We’re so busy trying to make some money online, that most of us forget about the “offline world” and that there are a lot of businesses who don’t know how to market online.
Great post, Ian. Thanks for sharing.

Some good tips….
It amazes me how many opportunities there are online to make some $$, even in a “down” economy. Lucky for most of us, average citizens cannot comprehend the power of the Internet.
Until that changes, good day to you all

@Bill,
Yes there are literally thousands, if not 10’s of thousands of ways to make money using the Internet, or Internet Marketing to be more correct.
Only thing is that there are more and more people trying to earn an income online using the same tactics, thus one of the reasons I am now working offline with regular businesses and competing less online with all the other IM people.
