Very good tips for using forums to increase your traffic. I have had a lot of success from forums over the years. Just remember that it’s important to follow the forum rules and NEVER spam a forum. You should always provide value with your posts.
If you are going to use forums I suggest you first decide what you want from the forums and how much time you are willing to spend on it. Then stick to that. Also I would have a look at the dofollow forums. Because those give backlinks not just traffic.
I heard that forum posting really works in bringing traffic to your site. But I;m not really sure how it works. Is it the same as blog commenting?

@Paracho Michoacan: yes, Its just like blog comments only, but you have to use your keywords with your site link as a signature.
be careful while posting, as if your post is irrelevant to the discusion or if your post looks liek you are promoting your sites, most of the forums will ban you. Its a great way to build traffic.
Hey guys, Im new here so Im gonna get straight to the point and hope to get some good replys
I recently downloaded couple files from limewire and now my computer is acting really messed up, It takes long time to start and after turning on
I get many notifications from my firewall that something is trying to connect to the internet, Im worried if they may be trojans or viruses and
that someone is trying to steal my passwords.
Okay I hope you can give me any ideas, Im gonna check back to the forum in couple days to see what you have suggested, Bye!
This is my second visit to your blog. We are starting a brand new initiative in the same niche as this blog. Your blog provided us with important information to work with. You have done a marvellous job.

Good post and tips. When I first tried my hand at this in newsgroups I made the mistake of adding my URL and a little advertising juice. I got the link but, wasn’t allowed back in the group. Be very careful in newsgroups and get to know the other posters before you decide to plug your add.

Hi Ian.
This is solid advice especially for “newbies.”
Posting on forums is an excellent way to drive
traffic to your website, but as you explained, it
must be done the right way.
Excellent post.
