Generating leads by using Surveys

It’s been a well know fact for years, even before the invention of computers, that one of the easiest ways you can gather new leads is to ask for someone’s opinion, and the best way to do that is through a survey. Through a survey you can understand what a customer is looking for, what age group they are in, what their average income is, and lots of other useful information. In order to run a successful survey you should keep a few things in mind when you put the survey together.

1. Keep it brief

Don’t make them feel like you are putting them through the Third Degree, this is likely to scare them off. You want them to be interested in your business and what you have to offer, and that their opinion is valuable.

2. Privacy is important

Make it very clear that the information you are collecting from the is only going to be used by you and your business. It will never be sold (unless you have stipulated that prior to them taking the survey, but this could scare them off). If you make a promise that you won’t share their information then it show that you can be trusted and respect their privacy and their wishes.

3. Offer something in return for their valuable opinion

Show them that you know their time and opinion is of value to you and your business by offering them something in return. You don’t have to make it anything too expensive, but I know some companies even offer a cash reward.

I have been doing surveys for a number of years now and each time I do I have been paid for my opinion, most times in cash, which is good because there is no record. Now with the Internet around there are even MORE opportunities to do surveys and these are nearly always paid opportunities.

When companies do a survey the right way it can be a very rewarding marketing tool for numerous reasons. Remember though, in order for a survey to work well, people must have an incentive to use their valuable time and opinion to actually fill out the survey.

If you respect their time, respect their privacy, and respect their effort, you’ll discover that people will be more than happy to give you some of their time to offer their opinion which in turn is of great value to you and your business.

A great site to use for online surveys, and one a number of people use is Survey Monkey: http://surveymonkey.com/

  6. Ian, Lead generating programs can be great tools not only to find those people who are interested in a home based business but will help to save precious time by filtering out the uninitiated. Once you have an established list it can be time consuming to qualify leads on a one by one basis. One tool I’ve been using successfully over the past month to qualify leads can be seen at:
