Abbott & Costello – “Who’s On First?” – A lesson to the Internet Marketing Crowd
Filed under (Make Money Blogging) του Ian για 12-01-2008
I’ve loved this skit ever since I saw it when I was about 10. It cracked me up the and it still cracks me up now. Many have tried to copy this dynamic team, but none have come close.
When I watch it today it makes me think of all the so called “Gurus” on the Internet who have made millions.
“Who’s On First, What’s on Second, Idunno’s on Third, Because, Why, Tomorrow, Today!”
Take some time out for a laugh at this classic team in action, then I’ll tell you more about how this applies to you and Internet Marketing.
When you first start out with Internet Marketing you might feel similar to Costello.
Who’s on first, What’s on second, Idunno’s on third.
Who are you supposed to trust or believe is telling you the facts? Are they just trying to get you to bring out your credit card again for the latest and greatest method or tool.
Frankly I’m sick to death of all the ’snake oil peddlers’ out there, and all their mates who help promote the latest and greatest thing.
Aren’t You?
Who are we supposed to listen too?
What products WILL really help us achieve our goals?
I don’t know who to trust?
These are the questions I ask myself each time I look at what is being offered.
STOP WASTING YOUR TIME with everything that is being offered to you.
Ask yourself these questions next time you receive and email with an offer, if it doesn’t fit your goal, or you find the information you are receiving from someone via email isn’t helpful, then DELETE!
Leave your comments and thoughts here for others to read. Let us know your experiences with the ‘Gurus’ online. Tell me how I can serve you better and provide what you really need to Make Everything EzyAs123.

I would like to introduce you to a new technology of marketing, simply put the next level of offline marketing through technology.
Utilizing cutting edge technology we send content to the most personal of advertising mediums: the mobile phone. Reach yourcustomers with a precision that was, until now, unattainable and use Beam Media to open the
enormous potential of a targeted mobile Bluetooth
marketing campaign. In times of changing communication, we are the intelligent link to your customers. Direct, lasting, effective, targeted, innovative! Bluetooth Marketing.
What is Bluetooth Marketing?
Bluetooth technology is how mobile phones, computers, and personal digital assistants (PDAs), not to mention a broad selection of other devices, can be easily interconnected using a short-range wireless connection. Using this technology, users can have all mobile and fixed computer devices be totally coordinated.
Bluetooth wireless technology is a short-range communications technology intended to replace the cables connecting portable and/or fixed devices while maintaining high levels of security.
The key features of Bluetooth technology are robustness, low power, and low cost. The Bluetooth specification defines a uniform structure for a wide range of devices to connect and communicate with each other.
Bluetooth technology has achieved global acceptance such that any Bluetooth enabled device, almost everywhere in the world, can connect to other Bluetooth enabled devices in proximity. Bluetooth enabled electronic devices connect and communicate wirelessly through short-range, ad hoc networks known as piconets. Each device can simultaneously communicate with up to seven other devices within a single piconet. Each device can also belong to several piconets simultaneously. Piconets are established dynamically and automatically as Bluetooth enabled devices enter and leave radio proximity.
Creating The Zone:
Want to give helpful advice, downloadable maps, and directions to the public, perhaps at a large multi-venue festival? Beam Media can set up a Bluetooth zone to allow you to reach the public. If it’s a large festival, people may not know what’s going on when they move to different stages and venues. However, a program of events to come, sent via Bluetooth direct to their pockets and onto their phones, will involve them in the action as quickly as possible! Beam Media can also put together interactive ‘billboards,’ allowing visitors to download videos or images onto their phones simply by standing in front of a Bluetooth-equipped billboard.
Retail Application:
With a stream of people but no guarantee they’ll enter your store, why not reach out and send them an invitation? Sending offers, coupons, details about your seasonal lines, and even random-chance prize promotions, will help ensure people leave the mall or shopping center with your goods in their shopping bags rather than your competitors’.
Bars & Nightclubs:
In a highly competitive market, why should customers choose your bar, lounge, or nightclub? Perhaps because while walking through a busy city center or down a main street they receive a message promising an offer for entry or drinks combined with the promise of a great night out. Distributing flyers is highly untargeted and costly – why pay for several people to give out a limited supply of flyers to the few that pick them up (who may then just as quickly discard them), when you could send out an unlimited amount of Bluetooth messages to anyone passing with a Bluetooth-enabled phone? They would still have to agree to accept the message, but in our experience people enjoy receiving messages on their phones. With our experience in design and advertising, we can work with you to translate that initial interest into repeat business.
Malls & Shopping Areas:
With a stream of potential customers but no guarantee they’ll enter your store, why not reach out and invite them in? Sending offers, details about your seasonal lines, coupons, even a random-chance prize promotion, will help ensure people leave the mall or shopping center with your goods in their shopping bags rather than your competitor’s.
Doctors & Dentists:
While your patients wait, why not engage them by offering news and information, even games, in a way that won’t disturb the silence and comfort of your waiting room? In a world where healthcare is becoming increasingly commercialized, this also provides a method to start a conversation with patients about health and dental plans.
Office & Company:
You’ve setup an intranet but no one reads it. Or perhaps your internal newsletter is becoming rather costly. Why not setup up a Bluetooth transmitter in your reception area so that as staff come into work, the latest company news is sent directly to where they’re most likely to read it. Combining this information with promotional offers for staff and non-company news ensures that the recipients will want to receive this message.

I agree, there are way too much BS out on the net. The best advice I can give, is just to research, research, research.
Great video btw, classic skit, always funny

@Joe@Slow Computer, I think these guys take the cake for comedy routines. I still see people today trying to do the “Who’s on First” skit, but it just doesn’t beat the original.
I’ll see if I can find more that I can apply to the Internet Marketing field.

Another key factor at how to arrive at a successful website that offers an online marketing package is to clearly define the target audience. once this is accomplished, figuring out the communication campaign needed to support the online marketing effort will be a lot easier.

Great post i love the comparison to Abott and Costello. I think people spend more money and time on products and services that they do not need. People should read everything they can find about the topic they want to learn about and then decide what products or services would help thier internet business.

I have followed many so called Gurus that are online and the only one that has helped me really make money online is Griz – if you are an internet marketer or in the make money online niche you have heard of him as he sits #1 in google for many high competition keywords with an ugly blogger blog, so I would go with him if you are just beginning
I would not use adsense though until you know how to rank for keywords
