Search Engine Marketing A Tough Battle

Filed Under (Search Engine) by Ian Richardson on 19-11-2008

One of the hardest challenges you will face on the internet is the race for a better position in the search engines. Search engines optimization is always changing and is one of the hardest to accomplish for many new and old marketers alike. Search engines are always changing the rules on how they rank websites, so maintaining your current top position is a constant battle. Although your site may go up and down in the rankings, all is not lost as there are a few things that always remains the same.

Content always remains the king in search engine marketing. If you provide quality original content, the search engines will reward you and your website. Keeping your content fresh and original is vital
to keeping your site high in the rankings. Google will reward sites that update their content with original quality content and will keep the spiders coming back for more. Quality original content will also produce many relevant links from other higher quality websites, which should produce better ranking for your site.

Relevant links is something that can have a tremendous effect on your website. The more relevant the link you get website, the higher ranking your website will attain. Link building should be done with care, as obtaining links from websites that have no relevance to yours could do more harm than good. Many webmasters jump at the chance to exchange links with each other and give little importance to find links that are relevant to their websites. It won’t help your ranking if the site linking to you has
nothing in common with what your site is about. Even if a visitor follows that link to your site, they will probably just leave as it has nothing to do with what he is searching for.

Most people who have used the Internet, or even know what it is know what Google is. But most people don’t know what exactly it is that Google does.

Or rather what makes Google do what it does. Google searches are able to be so accurate because of Latent Semantic Indexing.

Latent Semantic Indexing allows a search engine to determine what a page is about by searching for one or more keywords selected by the user.

It adds an important step to the document index process. LSI records keywords that a document contains as well as examines the document collection as a whole.

What is Search Engine Optimization (SEO)?

Filed Under (How To, Search Engine) by Ian on 12-11-2007

In this highly competitive world of the Internet, in order for your website to draw in new customers, you will need to have your site listed highly in the organic results of the major search engines. In order to do this effectively, and with any chance of remaining on the first page, you WILL need to involve search engine optimization, or SEO as it is often referred to.

1. Search Engine Optimization is an continuous and ongoing process. It’s something you have to keep researching and modifying because search engines are always evolving and changing their methods of finding sites of value.

To do this you will first have to find out where your site is currently rated amongst all the others. This will give you somewhere to start and highlight the areas of your website you need to work on. It will also show you how your current visitors/customers are finding you, and the keywords or search engines they are using to do so.

Search Engine Marketing 101

Filed Under (Keyword Lists, Search Engine) by Ian on 22-09-2007

Search engine marketing may sound like Greek to the uninitiated, and can get quite complicated even for those that know what they are doing. However, by breaking it down you can expose the information that you need and turn it to a powerful marketing tool.

Keywords and search terms are what people use when they use a search engine to look for a topic on the internet. By using these, you can help direct your target audience to your site. However, in order to use them effectively, you really must have the knowledge on your target audience and what words and phrases they are using. If you and your target audience are not on the same page, you will have great difficulty finding each other.

Online, you can find several tools and services that will help you find the right search terms for your needs. For instance, programs like Word Tracker will help you find all of the possible words that you should include in order to generate traffic. Another option is to get a search term list that will help you to identify trends.
